Tennis is the original racket duel โ power from the baseline, guile at the net, and nerves of steel at break point.
Singles is gladiatorial; doubles is diplomacy with winners down the middle. Servers alternate games, striking diagonally into the service box.
From there it's territory and time โ push them back, drag them wide, then finish at the net or rip the passing shot down the line.
Points run 15, 30, 40, game. At 40โ40 it's deuce โ you need two points in a row: advantage, then game.
Six games with two clear wins the set. At 6โ6 it's a tiebreak โ first to 7 points, again by two. Matches are best of three sets.
Ball clipping any part of the line is in. One bounce maximum before you strike โ none needed if you volley.
Two serves per point. Foot-fault past the baseline, miss the box twice, or clip the net and land out โ that's a double fault, point gone.
Our tennis nights at David Lloyd mix social doubles with serious ladders. Newer players get paired with old heads; the ambitious climb the box league. Season tournaments crown our club champions โ and the best earn Syndicate sponsorship to outside events.
